These series of blogs are to document the progress and events experienced in producing a digital media product for the purpose of assessment 2.
The assignment involves the production of a digital product; in this case a website, for an actual business or organisation with particular emphesis on interaction with the client.
The assessment was given to the class on the 17/03/05, we were asked to decide on a real life client and decide on a digital genre. In my case i have selected several clients to choose from:
- Cashies (a second hand goods dealership of which i was once employed)
- Troy Clancy Jeweller ( a friend and manufacturing jeweller)
- Shanty Hotel Darts Club (an established club that has members, management, provides a product for sale and has a demand for promotion)
My first choice is 'Cashies' as they are a mainstream retail outlet without a website and the potential for regular updating and add on's. At the time of this blog i am still awaiting reply from the owner to begin negotiations (there have been some holdups with letters).
Although i have not begun talks with Ray (the owner of cashies) i have begun designing and constructing a site using Dreamweaver and Flash.
This is my proposed background.
At the very least, if cashies do not want a site or dont like my ideas, the work i have done so far has been great practise for me. I am confident that Troy (the Jeweller) or the Darts club would not hesitate to have a free site done if cashies falls through.
Also as part of the assignment we have explored the 'Scoping Questionaire' a document that we have amended from existing questionaires to ask questions of the employer to detirmine (and get in writing) the project parameters.
